i am still here

hello. wow it i really have been slacking. over a month. i won't lie, i have been a bit busy, a little lazy, and just didn't get around to posting anything for a while. much has happened, boise state is on a roll this year. it has been fun going to the games. only one home game left, i am really sad. we head to utah this week for a game in logan. we are driving down saturday morning, and turning around coming home that night. a long day in the car. work is going good, we have been busy. i can't believe it is already november. thanksgiving was looking pretty sweet with the possibility of going to hawaii, but we couldn't get it to work. so mom, dad and i are going to portland. i can't wait to see all the cousins. i really love portland. i miss living there. holidays in the big cities are always fun. well all is good here, i love the cooler weather, that means the snow is on its way, hopefully tons of it... until next time.

i think i want to go to...

new york city. as i lay in my front room thinking i am going to die from this cold or whatever i have, i watched the travel channel the whole day. most of the programs had something to do with new york. i haven't been there since 1993. they showed a picture of the twin towers, i stood at the top of those buildings when i was there, it is kind of weird to think about that there is just a big hole now. really sad.
boston would be fun also. speaking of boston...the stupid red soxs are 2 and half games ahead of the yanks, they keep losing and the dumb yankees keep winning. so everyone root against the yankees so they will lose the rest of there games, and detriot win the rest of the their games so the yanks won't get into the playoffs. then i win ten bucks. well i am going now talk to you all soon, i hope...

another monday night

whats up? well i am taking massive amounts of vit. c trying to combat a stupid cold. i hate getting sick, i would rather have a toe missing if i would never get sick again. my little toe, though. i thought i would say hello to everyone. i am ready for the winter. bring on the snow. so i can go snowboarding by myself, that i one of my favorite things to do. honestly, there is something about cruising down the mountain at 45 mph and just not think about anything else going on in life. i can't wait. i am going to head to utah to hit the rest of the resorts i didn't make it to when i lived down there. targee and jackson hole is on the list this year along with sun valley, one of my favorites. the brothers blaisdell are trying to convince dad that it would be a wonderful idea to go do some helicopter skiing this year. hopefully that will happen, i think he is worried that he won't be able to keep up...prove us wrong dad!!!! i miss hong kong and japan. i want to go back. thanks for the compliments on the videos, i really enjoy putting those together. well i am going to go find something to do, don't know what though. i took this picture a few minutes ago from my porch, i haven't taken many pictures lately. have a good night.

here is one from our snowboarding trip last year in mammoth, california.

here is my little brother paul's video from his first trip to china last year. notice the taunting in the first scene...i was working so i couldn't go on that trip.

this video is one i did a couple years ago at a boise state game. we sat in the south endzone.

a new week, a short one though

so i am looking forward to the next boise state football game. we head to seattle on friday morning, can't wait to get up there. u of w football stadium is supposed to be amazing, from the pics i have seen, it looks pretty sweet. so a three day work week, bsu football game, what could be better.
i have adjusted back into real life after our trip. i loved it there, and can't wait wait to go back. still trying to get the videos up on this blog so you all can see them. now i have kenya to look forward to in may. that is going to be interesting.
heard a snippet of a song last week, and have been trying all week to find out the song. well it is the scientist, by coldplay. amazing song, that is all i can say. i wish that i wouldn't have quit piano lessons when i was younger, chris martin of coldplay has written some amazing songs on the piano.

Sunday, August 26, 2007

i hate jet lag.

well i was going to post a video from our trip, but after the stupid computer uploaded it for about 15 minutes, an error code showed up and now i have to do it all over. anyhow we made it home, my apartment is a disaster, and i am up at 11:30 at night wide awake, and thought i would finish a post on our trip. so friday morning we went out and took family pictures for ed and lisa with the girls. it was fun, i figured they fed us, and let us stay at their home, so it was the least i could do. so thank you very much ed and lisa for all that you did! and to rich and jonna and their family, thanks for dinner and it was great to see you all. we left friday afternoon japan time, and got into seattle about 1 p.m. pacific. had a bit of a layover in seattle, but we were soon on our way home. mom and dad picked us up, it was good to be home. so did i go to sleep right when i got home...nope, some friends were in town so i headed downtown to see them, went out for sushi at happy fish in boise, it was good. i still suck at using chopsticks, but i guess that is what i will work on now. so after all that i was up for more than 28 hours, came home and took a sleeping pill. woke up about 11:30am, and still wasn't adjusted to the time change, stupid jet lag. last night couldn't get to sleep and was up until 3am. woke up at noon, and was worthless the rest of the day. hopefully getting up and to the gym in the morning i will get back on track. hope to have a video up here soon. if not i will show most of you when i see you i guess. until next time.

Thursday, August 23, 2007

today is the day

well as you all are in the middle of your thursday workday, i just got up and we have to leave today. keith and mike, didn't have any soda during the entire trip, tempted a couple times but stayed strong. anyhow here are a few things i should tell you about japan...
-august isn't the best time to come here, it was hot and muggy. i can't complain though, it rained just once in the morning. nothing ruins a vacation like rain.
-the japanese women are very pretty, oh so pretty
-the metro system is confusing
-they drive on the opposite side of the road, a bit tough to get used to
-pokeman is so annoying
-you feel like you are in a video game with the music they play when you walk around in the public places
-our cell phones in the states suck, compared to what the japanese have
i think that is it for now. aunt debbie thanks again for everything you did in planning our trip. viva la kenya. so i guess i will see you all soon.

i guess we have to come home...

our trip is almost over. i am really sad to leave. japan is quite lovely, i will definitely try to make it back over here. today was amazing, the humidity was down, it was a bit cloudy so it wasn't to hot. we went to yokohama today. took the metro there and walked around a bit. they have an amusement park right there over looking the bay. went on the huge ferris wheel that looks over the city. it wasn't crowded at all, but i am guessing on the weekend that place would be packed. very pedestrian friendly place. so i have a new addiction, starbucks green tea frapichino, don't know if i spelled that right, oh well. anyhow i love that drink. our plane leaves at 8pm, and we arrive in boise at 6pm. hope you all have a good thursday. it is 11pm and i am headed to bed. talk to you soon.

couldn't find tokyo rose

ginza shopping district, all the big designers have stores here, very expensive.

tokyo was crazy! that is all i can say. there are so many people there. we hit a few of the biggest districts of tokyo, ginza, shuboya, roppongi, and a couple other ones that i can't think of right now. shuboya is the times square of tokyo, the busiest intersection in the world, there is like six crosswalks converging in this square and people are all over. the busiest starbucks is also in that square. so we just got a drink and went to the second floor and watched the chaos that is tokyo. we sat there at least 45 minutes just watching all the people. they have an interesting fashion sense here.

this is how many japanese girls dress, pretty funky.

paul just before dinner.
we went to the imperial palace, but couldn't get to it because it was blocked off for some reason. the metro in tokyo is crazy. i thought hong kong was a bit tricky, but the stations here have six and seven levels, and the map is tough to figure out where to go, and to transfer. we ate at hard rock here in tokyo, ed and lisa liked it, some good american food that didn't have any asian influence. went to some shopping districts out of tokyo and they have shoe stores every other store. there are so many brands, styles to choose from, and are fairly inexpensive. it rained a bit last night, and poured all morning. we are probably going to yokohama today, the second largest city in japan.
we leave tomorrow, i can't believe how fast this trip has gone by. traveling out of a suitcase sucks, but i have had so much fun. can't wait to share all the pics with you all. i have taken a lot, so i will narrow down the favorites so i don't bore you.
well hopefully i will get one more post in before we leave.

Tuesday, August 21, 2007

we head to tokyo

hey. well we are about to head out to tokyo on the trains. went and worked out this morning with ed. it was great to get to the gym. anyhow sushi was great last night. had tuna, salmon, crab and some other things. wasabi is a bit hot. so i guess i will try and post pictures from todays trip. it is another hot and muggy day. i really miss the dry heat of idaho. met some oklahoma fans the other day, it was great conversation. hope all is good in idaho and everywhere else.

i think im turning japanese, i really think so.

hello from the land of the rising sun. we made it here. it is hot and muggy just like hong kong. my friend ed and his daughter met us at the airport today and we are now at their house here on the zuma army base. dinner tonight is sushi. i have to admit that i have never in my 28 years have had sushi. so what better place to try it than in japan. tomorrow we get on the bullet trains and head into tokyo for the day. i am really excited. dad, paul and i realized we have finally been to a place that you haven't been to. can't wait to tell you all about it. ha ha me so funny...
well i will post pics soon of japan. hope all is well.
later

goodbye hong kong, hello japan...

we leave for japan in the morning. i am about to go to bed, while you all are getting ready to head to work. hong kong is now one of my favorite cities. this place is amazing and has it all. today we went to a couple different markets and shopped. picked up a few things, it was fun bargaining with the vendors, they tell you the price and then give them my price. the best part is saying no and walking away, and them following you as you walk away.
the things i won't miss about hk is the guys on the street asking every ten feet or so, "you want fake watch", or "you come to my shop, we get you tailored suit."
had the best ice cream today, a mango flavored ice cream.
went into the louis vuitton shop in the peninsula hotel today, who the hell would spend $2000 bucks on a purse, or $500 bucks on a small wallet? it is nice stuff, but why so much???
that reminds me, i hope the lottery ticket sitting on my counter at home is the winning ticket, haven't checked, but i am keeping my hopes up.
well hong kong was great, i will definitely be coming back here, and recommend it to anyone.
so i guess the next time i will post something will be in the land of the rising sun...
hope all is well.

so this just happened

so i finished the last post, got up to get in the shower, and ceiling tiles had crashed to the floor in our bathroom. i thought i had heard a crash earlier but thought it was outside or something. no, it was in our bathroom, there is a leak from above. it would have been funny if paul was sitting on the toilet when it happened. here are the pics

one more day in hong kong.

whats up everyone? well another day has begun here hong kong. it is 4pm on sunday in idaho. just thinking about everyone and what they might be doing at 4 in the afternoon, while i type this at 6am hk time.
yesterday was a blast, we lucked out again with weather, it was still hot and muggy but didn't rain. looks like today we will have the rain. we didn't have any clue on what we were going to do so after breakfast we decide to head way out of town on the metro to the island of lantau. it cost us about 3 bucks to ride out there. the scenery was great. anyhow we wanted to go see the worlds biggest Buddha statue. saw it on tv, so it looked like it would be cool to see. also on this island in disneyland hong kong, it has been open for 3 years now. they even built their own metro line out to it, mickey mouse is everywhere here. so we got to the end of the metro line, and took a 45 min. bus ride through the mountains on narrow roads that seemed to all but torn up with construction. the drivers here are crazy coming within inches of other cars and buses. so Buddha was great. hiked up the all the stairs to the top, drenched in sweat. i have to thank samantha at the gym for telling me to hit the treadmill and stairmaster to prepare me for all the walking and hiking up endless amounts of stairs.
after we headed back into the city, we went to soho, the massive restaurant area off the 800 meters of escalators that head up a hill. we at italian food at fat angelos. it was great. after that we called our cousin jonna who lives here in hk with her family. they just got back from summer vacation in the states. we went to their house last night to see jonna, rich, and the girls. we had a blast, it was great to see them. their apt. looks over repulse bay which is an amazing view and very nice location. after we left, got back on the bus to head back to the metro station to go to the hotel. we were exhausted. so here are some pictures for you all to see. we are going to a couple of markets today it should be fun. talk to you later.

outside right now of our hotel

holding a cute little Buddha, the locals were laughing at us when we were doing this, it reminded me of the leaning tower of pisa

this city is huge!

hello. it is about 9:30pm, and paul is out cold. we walked around all day, and i really wore him out. i am about to go out to the night market to take some pictures of all the neon signs. we rode a 800 meter escalator, the victoria peak trolley, the metro, ate at hard rock(what is a blaisdell vacation w/o a trip to hard rock?), and walked through the little markets off the busy streets. those little alleys are the most interesting, the locals are there selling chickens and fresh fish, and local produce. shopping is definitely the main attraction here in hong kong. here are a couple of pics from today.

paul met some new friends. these girls just kept staring at paul and smiling. so they wanted to get a pic with him.

the symphony of lights over victoria harbor. huge light and firework show every night at 8pm. this is from our hotel room.

right after the light show. lighting for about an hour non stop over the harbor. i have never seen so much lighting.

paul loves fashion.

in the city
well hope all is well the lighting started back up. will have more pics tomorrow.
good night now!!

i have been up for 28 hours now.....

hello from hong kong. that flight is brutal. it is 2am i think. so just wanted to let you all know that we made it here. got to seattle, tried to upgrade from coach to business class, didn't happen the flight was completely booked. so as we marched through the business class cabin to the back the plane we were a bit sad. but coach wasn't bad at all. it was quite nice. watched 3 movies, and tried to sleep(didn't happen though). so got to hong kong and the hotel at 11:30pm or so, and went out to the harbor. our room looks out at the water.
well tried to put pics up, but it isn't working. so hopefully i can get pics up on this thing. well i have to try to sleep now.

jackie chan watch out, my sweet ninja moves are in hong kong now. we are safe

it is finally here!!!

well just got home from work, it has been a busy day. went to the rodeo last night and had a great time. didn't even get shot at, how about that.
now have to begin the process of packing for my trip across the pond, pacific that is. my little brother paul (he is a bit taller than me, but i still can take him down) and i leave in the morning for hong kong and tokyo. i am really excited for this trip. it is my first time to the continent of asia. paul was there last year, really happy he gets to go with me before he starts college.

this is who i get to spend the next 9 days with...
i think he painted that facial hair on himself.

so i guess you will have to wait and see what kind of trouble we get ourselves in, so stay tuned...

kids are a handful

good morning all. well it is sunday, 5 days until paul and i leave to hong kong and tokyo. my mind is already on that plane, it is tough to think of anything else. i have come to realize that traveling and spending money on experiences instead of stuff that just sits in a house or a garage, is what life is about. so thank you mom and dad for instilling the travel bug, and showing us that there is life outside of idaho. ok, enough sentimental jabber...
anyhow, reason for this post title. took family pictures for some friends last night. it was fun, i was pretty tired after we were done. kids running around everywhere non stop. so to all you parents, i am impressed, i probably would go crazy, check that, i would go crazy...
headed to tom and sheri's after taking pictures. had a proud uncle davey moment, got to read macey a book before she went to bed. after i finished the book i asked macey if she liked the book. the response, "i want daddy." it made me laugh.
so i guess that is all for now.

finally!!!!

finally is all i can say. barry bonds passed hank aaron for the home run record. now lets just forget about him and start football already!!! it has been interesting to watch him get that record, it just drug on and on. no pun intended on the "drug on" comment either. being the sports fan i am, it is cool to see history be made, even though it was made with some pharmaceutical help. well that is all i have for now.
9 days until our trip, i am at that point of...can i leave now please?
watched employee of the month last night, funny show, the soundtrack is really good. my favorite song this week is "do it alone" by sugarcult. to all my punk rock and hardcore friends, there is nothing wrong with a good pop song every now and then...a guilty pleasure.

everybodys working for the weekend....

i don't know why that song title got into my head, but i guess it works. well exciting weekend ahead, well not to exciting, but fun. taking a senior pictures for a friend today and tomorrow. then going golfing with dr. tom. after that going to see bourne ultimatum, by far one of my favorite movie series. so that is it for now. went to the awesome candy store here in boise, they have everything you could think of, and i bought a ton of candy. sorry dad and tom. lemonheads galore, pop rocks, candy cigarettes. i also made myself kind of sick from all the stuff i ate...oh well i am still young enough to do that, right? i could have spent a hundred bucks in there.
countdown to asia...13 days.
jared, thanks for the comments on the pics, i agree with you, touring the world taking pics of rock stars would be a bit better than making teeth.
F.Y.I.
boise state began fall practice today, just thought you all would like to know. i can't wait for the season to start. isn't arizona lovely in january...hope to do it again soon!

another tuesday night...

...and another concert that i took pictures at. so anyhow this band was darkest hour, from D.C. they were really good. i know that i am getting old when i leave a show after seeing two bands. it was nice not to pay for the ticket, snap some photos and watch the rest of the set then head home.

really nothing new this week, work didn't start out the way i would have liked, but someone made me realize it really wasn't that bad of a start. oh well i guess i have the rest of the week.
the countdown to the great continent of asia begins tomorrow. paul and i leave on the 16th. i am really looking forward to this trip. i will definitely have updates and pics posted here during the adventure.
i guess i will call it an early night, hope all is well.

five whole days?

wow, so i have been slacking off big time. sunday was my last post! this week has flown by...
first, there was the ice cream (thank you again) a great way to start off the week, except for having a really bad headache.
second was a great work week, learning all kinds of new things
third was mongolian bbq with the parentals
forth, the first concert of the week. and this is where i tell you all about it. well it is 11:48pm on thursday night. i just got home from a great concert, all three bands i was really looking forward to seeing, so it was a fantastic night. these tell it all i guess.

it is 1:16 pm on this sunday afternoon.

hola everyone, and everywhere.
well just finished cleaning the palatial 750 sq ft apartment of mine. it was tough, but it had to be done. i need to get a maid or something, because it just has become to much. anyhow this weekend was not to exciting. first an update on my hand, the swelling has started to go down a bit, still really sore though. enough of that.
spent some time in caldwell. hung out at tom and sheri's home for a bit, then my aunt jackie came into town with her mom on their way to utah. we went out for some dinner, and it was good to see them. i will see them again later this week for the blaisdell/chambers family reunion.
this morning paul and i went out and took some pictures for his upcoming show at roaring springs on friday for magic 93.1 radio concert. it should be fun. since that water park opened, i have never been there, so after he plays i will hopefully hit all the slides. you can listen to paul's music on the link to the right under the "my peeps" title. he is pretty talented.

so here are some pics from today. so if you don't have plans for friday, you might want to come check his show out. i know most of you are out of town, but for those of you who are here, you should come. well that is about it for now.
boom goes the dynamite

my first trip to the E.R.

hey there. well just got home from the hospital. had an accident at the lake tonight, and thought i broke my left hand (not good, by the way). the hand crank on the trailer went crazy as the boat was backing up in the water, i got distracted and forgot to unhook the damn clip from the nose of the boat, i turned around and the handle slammed onto the top of my hand. it kinda hurt.
so what did i do, did i go to the E.R.? nope, the boat was in the water so we had to go out. got lots of ice for my hand and away we went. after we finished my hand really started to hurt, so i decide to get some x-rays. thought that i would be there in the E.R. for hours but was there only for an hour, so i was happy about that. there were some people who were getting checked out in much worse shape than i was. i will get the bill in about a week, hopefully insurance covers a large sum of the total bill.
was a little nervous about what would happen if i did break my hand, but don't have to worry about it now. but i now have a bonehead story involving the boat. dad and his sunken boat in the mccall harbor, tom and the diesel fuel incident(by far the best story), then me. who is next? hope everyone is well.

...golf, i hate this game

so like i said earlier, played some golf last night on the caldwell muni, had some good shots but for the most part it was pretty bad. to top it off jake norman, who by the way, hadn't played for 7 years beat me. thought i would share this lovely picture of craig, jake and myself on the 9th hole. jake white trashed it from the 3rd hole on. well good night now!!!

what a monday...

well nothing really special happened today. just got home from work and about to go golfing. by the way, the game of golf is kind of frustrating. i have lost golf balls, hit a van, and had some choice words when i shanked the ball. and of course, who was behind us...a couple of little kids when those choice words were spoken. hopefully i can get better, because i have only won one golf bet this year, that is uncalled for.
the new ncaa football game comes out tommorrow, zabransky is on the cover representing boise state. so i am picking that up. i have to get practicing for next years tournament, i want that trophy (see last post).
right now i am listening to a mix of acoustic songs that i put together. one song on there that i have listened to quite a bit is "close" by mick croon(that is what he is going by now), my brother-in-law. great stuff.
candy of the day...lemonheads (thank you very much)
go see ocean's 13, great show, most of you have probably seen it. i am a little behind the times.
now i must go and make a fool of myself on the ol' golf course. until next time...

i guess there is always next year...?

the trophy, winners name is engraved on the back with the year.

dave-oklahoma st.
tom-boise st.
paul-oregon
mike-wisconsin
keith-utah
so i called my shot, i lost. i got greedy. i had the first game against tom, but i like to pass the ball, and should have run the ball. i didn't stick to the mantra that i was taught in my coaching football class at boise state my senior year. if you can establish and control the running game, you will win. (which by the way was my favorite class, and 2 credits! sorry coach vill.)
the first game was fiesta bowl all over again, there were fumbles, late game interceptions and last second desperation plays. in the end, no win for dave, no proposal, and especially no idiot in the background yelling and sticking his mug in the camera shot for 3 minutes during the post game interview. we all saw that guy, if i ever see him on the streets i will have something to say to him!!!! mike and keith duked it out, mike won. he hated his team because he didn't have a scrambling QB. mike, keith, and myself were victims to tom and paul and each lost twice. so the final that will take place today is between tom and paul...boise st. and oregon for the coveted trophy.
we had some people not show up, so their loss. hopefully we can get more people in next year. it was fun, we all yelled a bit, and maybe some choice words were used, so no trophy in boise this year, it stays in caldwell...

the pregame meal, i think paul cleaned up mom and dad

if i had a billion bucks....

i got to thinking at work today about what it would be like to have a billion dollars. i know that money can't buy happiness, but it sure could make things easier. i would buy a house in italy on lake como, watched a show on that place, and it looks like not a bad place to live. so you are all invited to visit when that happens. oh and i would have a lambo, a black one, yes that will do. i guess for now i have to make lots of teeth for that to happen, so dr. tom get busy and get me some work.
speaking of italy, i was looking through old pics and saw this one. this was awesome, tom in all his glory in florence

what tom is wearing is what we got jake norman as his wedding present imported directly from italy, how about that! i think he and erin liked it. hopefully jake can wear it and help his mom in the kitchen now while living in caldwell.
well now, i have a football tournament to prepare for. we will definitaly have a report and have pics from the big event happening tomorrow night in caldwell. i have called my shot, so i have to win now. if i don't i get to hear about it the whole year.
cheers

one long day...

well missed the gym this morning, drove around today for work, it was hot, the a/c couldn't keep up. then got my stuff done, took off for jackson norman's 2nd birthday party. traffic sucked, it was hot, the girl at the snow cone shack doesn't understand the phrase, medium peach/raspberry mix with EXTRA SYRUP! i like my sugar syrup with some ice please. the party was great, drove back to boise, went back to work to finish up the work that i got after i left. now i have to figure out which team i am going to dominate the ncaa football tournament with on friday, because i WILL have that trophy with me when i leave! i might be able to go to sleep after that, i hope.

the birthday boy just hanging out with chicks all over the place

oh by the way, my favorite cd of the year so far, is the gallows. the song abandon ship is absolutely amazing! i have been listening to it non stop, probably on spin number 10 of the album, and i bought it yesterday. a little obsessive...no it is that good.

paul, countdown to hong kong...t-minus 36 days

well i don't know where to begin. watched a couple movies, did laundry, and cleaned the apartment. hoping this next week will be a bit busier than last week. i think that is about it. song of the day, john mayer, slowdancing in a burning room. thanks to pauly "the prince of c-town" blaisdell for that cd.
